The other day I was in a two hour meeting where two of the participants spent half an hour discussing whether or not they should even discuss a particular topic. And the topic had not even been on the agenda!
So you can see why I appreciate this quote:
"If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

I attended a meeting in Turkey recently where our hosts phoned us 30 mins or so before the meeting started to tell us that they were not producing an agenda for the meeting because they found that an agenda tended to restrict discussion (!). The meeting then ran for hours, followed no structure that was useful, and achieved next to nothing. Moral of the story? Hmm, I'll return to that.
