Wednesday Wanderings ... opinings ...

What in the world do socialites do?

Pose at parties in the name of charity, gossip about this and that, and hope that their pictures show up in magazines ...

What made my so happy?
Swam in this river. Oh yes! Made friends with 6 year old Edrie and his 4 year old little sister, Millie – such gorgeous kids! Edrie insisted on swimming with us in the current and nearly drowned but JB gallantly saved him! Made my day and my heart swelled in pride.

What websites caused me pause?
http://www.newamericancentury.org
http://www.politicalcortex.com

Lamont vs. Lieberman?
Lamont won the primaries as the democratic candidate for Senator of Connecticut; Lieberman will run as an Independent – splitting the Democratic vote and potentially handing CT to the Republicans

A minor thing that matters?
Space

A realization that matters?
Some things just don't matter anymore, and some things matter forever

My thought for this week?
House of cards, Castles in the sky, Shattered to shards, Some fall some fly

Iran is exerting its presence – from Lebanon to Iraq. What is the message?
The author Vali Nasr has an idea…

Music Recommendation:

“Why Does my Heart Feel So Bad?”: Moby (courtesy of my friends, Caco and Before Sunrise)

“Sometimes My Heart”: DJ Rock - currently hot on my playlist

"Alive (Chai)": Ofra Haza (Israeli singer who believed in humanity)

"Movement VII": Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Ofra Haza (the 2 worlds as one)

"B-Boys Fly Girls": Lictenfels – for all the B-boys and the fly girls out there ;-)

Movie Recommendation:

“The Gods Must be Crazy”: the funniest, most heart-warming movie ever! incomparable, simple, beautiful – set in South Africa

Candancimmmmm,my dearest kardeşi let us add HADİSE to our music recommendation ;-). If you like it, we will all listen and share with you!

Huge hugs and kisses to my sister. I hope you are having a gorgoues day. What are you doing? For me the day has just started and I am so excited - I have friends like you, and I am alive - a good way to start my day!

Fernando - yes my friend, the first website is right wing, nationalist.

The second one is more liberal and in fact has an article about professors in the US being targeted and accused for not being right wing (can you believe it???)

2 websistes with 2 types of thinking - and one of them is frightening - but good thing that we are fearless.

about the music - I like music from other countries even though i do not understand the words - but most people do not share my choice of dance/trance type of music. In the summer, I love having my car windows down while I listen to loud dance music ;-) (not the impression you have of me, right ;-))

What kind of music do you like??

;-)

...well, I would say that check my profile...but too many (much?)to post...

-yes, I like a lot music in other languages that I dont understand, cause I m more in the sound of the words than in the words...about 20 years ago, yes I was also in lyrics; social ones (punk lyrics).

-but from antique laud music from 1500 to death metal band like erly Brujeria, and with all sort of things in between (Im a CD buyer (and books)-when I can- here is too expensive. Im not into the download..)

I really like REAL rock n roll and gypsy jazz swing, like D Reinhardt

... when I perform, ..sometimes I cry (emotions)

Nazli, you need to get rid of the word verification crap!!! I think is better only the name and the password

Nazli Hardy said...

:-) Fernando - I will remove the word verification - however, if I receive any spam, then I will expect you to take care of it - ok?

I must admit I have not heard gypsy jazz swing but have noted your recommendations so I can hear Reinhardt - and am limited to dance music.

I did not knwo you performed and actually I am not surprised that it brings such emotions in you.

The readon i download from iTunes are as follows:

usually I only like 1 0r 2 songs on a cd
the dance music I like is not easily available in the stores
and so it is easier for me to downlaod specific music for 99c.

Actually Fernando, if you buy a whole cd on iTunes it is cheaper than buying the store.

But books! i love books. I can spend hours at a bookstore and I do. I read a variety of things

I'd like to know what music you perform. So you perform music, you surf, you motorbike ....

...Naz, your right about dance music...I know cause my sister is a dancer (tango, modern and tap. and also is adancer in the theater and she has a degree in Physical Education) and have those 2 "good " songs per cd...I dont know...

...check my post in the other thread (22)Wednesday wanderings..
about some music explanations

-yes from time to time I play with a band called Reverberockets (about 20 I posted a photo and some..)

--sometimes I teach music here and there . Today I have a class.

---actually most of the music that I listen is not in itunes to buy..

.thanks Nazz for the remove!!
why spam? I dont have spam, and most traffic blogs dont have..

cheers baby

oh ....I love gals

Uh oh... Fer is going through his "I love gals" phase.. this can be dangerous!! ;-)

Nazli - I also buy some songs from itunes, but like Fernando, I can´t find all of them there!!!

I don´t know what type of space you were referring to, but I believe space (not the space where the moon is, but actual space on earth) does matter!! I need space and love it hahaha!!!

Cris - I am laughing with you my friend! So nice to see you! I hope you are enjoying your vacation! Take pictures to share with us! I missed you, especially because I was absent for a week too!

Space - yes I meant space the way you mean it - space to be, just to be.

But I suppose some people might find space out there in the universe just as precious - all types of people out there ...

Huge hugs and kisses

Hey, here are a few answers:
SOCIALITES primarily smile.
Fridays have become a true sign of HAPPINESS for me.
DOC herself has caused me PAUSE for all the good reasons.
LULA vs ALCKMIN ? These gentlemen are running for president. Impossible to say which could be the worst option. Wish you the best with Lamont or Lieberman.
Rain does MATTER - it is a major rather than a MINOR concern now. Blogging is a REALIZATION that matters for me. A THOUGHT? For this week, 'ignore rather than hate'. Interesting to read Mr. NASR's viewpoint - it's always a chance to look closer...

Naz, dear - That poor movie... I'd love it, if only it weren't for that whole apartheid context it works so well...

See you at the party, Tuesday's meeting, and all of that... - Sc.

Nazli Hardy said...

Scott - how like the humanitaria philosopher you speak.

as you know i grew up in africa, yet the concept of racism only became blatantly obvious to me during my travels out of africa

apartheid - so many forms still today

so excited about celebrating your tenrure and promotion at the party - and yes Tuesday meetings and all that ...;-)

Naz - did you just call me "Naz"? ;-)

Nazli Hardy said...

Caco - what a lovely comment posting that is

this summer has given me pause about myself - to really see myself - I cannot even express much it matters

as for the rain - yes yes - how it matters

as for blogging - there is something empowering to feel a part of an international crowd from all points of earth converging in some mutual understanding - magical

keep very well my friend and hope your week is fantastic!

Nazli!! Only now I saw the movie recommendation!! Is this the one where a coca-cola bottle falls from the "sky"?? If it is, I saw it when I was small with my grandparents!! I loved it :-)

Nazli Hardy said...

Yes yes Cris! This is the one with the coca cola bottle following from the "sky". I also watched it when i was a little girl and i laughed and loved it and enjoyed it so much because of its simplicity and innocence.

The bottle represets the "rest of the material world" I suppose ... ;-)

keep enjoying your summertime:-)
