... and this time, dishearteningly from the "Democratic" front ...
Check out this story about the so called "political climate" in the US ...
Hardly a "change we can believe in"
(addendum)
I understand why Obama's campaign did what they did but the fact remains that it is the anti-Islamic "political climate" that persuaded that situation. It doesn't make it right. I would have had the same reaction if someone with a Magen David or other attire were treated that way. Certainly a "Christian" attire would not have promoted that reaction from their camp. There is a clear discrepency - and that is what is not right.

It’s unfortunate that Hebba Aref and Shimaa Abdelfadeel experienced the scarf incident at the Obama event. There is an old African proverb that says “a person waiting to be set on fire does not go around rubbing himself in kerosene.” For every ground senator Obama has covered he had to fight for and from the little I have read of him, he is not wont to discriminate against Muslims. But considering the amount of negative media on Muslims warranted and unwarranted, it’s understandable that his campaign tries to stay away from any appearance of extremities. Meaning the same caution applied to Hebba Aref and Shimaa Abdelfadeel would be applied if someone showed up in complete Jewish robe with Star of David Necklace, Rabbi Fedora and Curly Faux Peyos. Demanding a personal apology from Sen. Obama is insinuating he had directly offended you-which he hasn’t or perhaps just a stunt for spotlight.
Point well taken. I am not looking for an apology for those 2 Muslim supporters - simply pointing out that an anti-Islamic "political climate" is alive and well.

Nazli
I agree with you Nazli, it was pathetic. I've been supporting Obama for more than a year and a half now - since the day he announced - and this isn't the first time his campaign has annoyed me. In an ideal world he'd be taking these fearmongers head on. I'd like to see even more courage from him, but he's a political creature or he wouldn't even be where he is. At least I hope he's breaking the habit of calling woman-strangers "sweetie"!!
