Sometimes a large cauldron of reality washes the myopia from my eyes and gives me a panoramic vision of what “effectiveness,” “busyness,” and “making a difference” is really all about. These heroes imbue my being with inspiration and humility – and yes heroism does indeed begin in our own homes, in our own community, within our own surroundings:
Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow who helps provide daily meals to 400,000 children worldwide
Narayanan Krishnan who gave up a high brow international chef career to help feed his own peeps
Evans Wadongo who shows us that age is no pre-requisite for heroism and ingenuity
Anuradha Koirala who has the courage and compassion to rescue young girls sold into sex-slavery
Mackenzie Bearup, a girl after my own heart, who gives abused children the gift of book
