So far I have considered my blog to be somewhat anonymous and thus I have written with a bit of "attittude" - yes, yes I am very self-aware! ;-) This morning I spoke to my Advisor from graduate school - the most learned man, the most enlightened soul, the foremost academic - who garners my great respect. He told me he read my blog - my pulse sped - this learned published academic who approved my doctoral dissertation - and now he is reading my little blog! But he said he was proud of me because he could read the words beneath and he encouraged me to keep using the words to challenge, to ask, to learn , to live ... fearlessly
Here are the words for today - 3 years ago the "mission was accomplished" and now there is a hotbed of terrorists - so what mission was actually accomplished? Whose mission was accomplished? Where has the self-righteous, truth-telling media been? Why are some lives more important than others? And if the message is from god to strike a nation causing tens of thousands of dead civilians as collatoral damage - what a weak, cruel, pathetic, bigot of a god. Certainly not the Creator of the Universe?!

I continue to be amazed that GW Bush is not chained in the stocks to be pelted with rotten vegetables in a public square somewhere. The "mission accomplished" debacle is just one of the most public of his lies.
Let's see, he lied about his reasons for invading, he was completely oblivious to what would happen after the invasion, he repeatedly underplays the severity of the disaster unfolding, he refuses to acknowledge the tens of thousands of Iraqis being killed and he even seems to get a free pass on the detahs of well over 2,000 american soldier.
He arrests and tortures people without charging them, holds them in dungeons for years without charging them, conducts illegal wiretaps within the US, funnels billions of dollars to private companies that his VP receives millions from...
Why the hell isn't there a public uprising aginst him? I'm at a loss.
Oh, and congratulations on earning the encouragement from your advisor.
Mr Angry I remain as baffled as you on the state of democracy and freedom and truth.
The problem is that the Democrats do not have any stellar candidates either - and if you recall they all jumped the band wagon and voted for the war.
It's almost heart-breaking - but the world has a way of balancing out, as we see in history
take good care!
i just read in US News and World Report (not a great mag but when i'm sitting on the bus it's better than nothing) that many potential employers don't like people that have blogs. they think you'll give away company secrets. just to warn you.
Pete - absolutely true that and thank you for the comment.
...that is the great advantage of selling sea shells at the sea shore :-)
Cheers,
